Children's Ministry - November 2015

Happy Fall Ya'll! We had a great night at Cook Kidz Club last month! We had some awesome parents help with our Bible lesson, crafts, and then movies! We learned a story about how our lives are like a pumpkin!

God picks us from the pumpkin patch, brings us in from the field and He then washes the dirt from the world off of us. All the influences from the other pumpkins still living in the world become cleaned off and we become clean and new! He carefully removes all of the yucky stuff called sin that tries to stick to us, which sin takes away the love and joy that God has for us. He then changes us from the inside out through our heart, mind, and actions. That is why it is important to go to church and learn about God's Word. He carefully removes all of the seeds of doubt, fear, greed, disrespect and hate. He replaces them with seeds of faith, hope and love. After Jesus is invited inside, you begin to experience the changing power of God's love in your life. We then become so grateful that it shows in our eyes and on our face, He carves a new smiling face on us. Now we have a light that shines through all we do and say. Our light comes from the Son of Light, and He shines through us for all to see.

Let your light shine before men that they may be able to see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Cook's Kids - July 2015

What an amazing Journey Off the Map we had! 98 children attended, 9 salvation decisions were made and Pastor Mike got a pie in the face because our kids raised over $1,300 for missions. Thank you, church, for your involvement before, during, and after Vacation Bible School. The stage and building looked great, the teachers did an awesome job presenting the gospel, and the snacks were marvelous. Thank you to those who put up with extra décor in their rooms as we prepared to have a kid-friendly environment that allowed them to put aside the world and focus on following Jesus for a few hours each day.

Our 1st-3rd grade campers who attended Camp Harris had a great time...and came back soaked to the bone! It rained every day we were there and the resulting temperatures were enjoyable. Our kids rolled with the punches and had fun playing in the rain, studying God's word and making new friends. Thank you to Mel Corley for being the male chaperone.

Remember each Tuesday we have Tuesday Tunes from 10-11:30 a.m. followed by a fun activity. Our kids use this hour and a half to prepare for the musical they will present on August called "Down by the Creek Bank." If you have kids who haven't been attending, it isn't too late! All kids who have finished kindergarten throught 6th grade are welcome to join us.

July 5 is our Independence Day celebration. Kids bring your towel and prepare to get wet.

Kids' Ministry Team members will meet at 4 p.m. on July 11.

Centrikid campers will leave July 27 at 10:30 a.m. Please pray for us as we learn to be FIT for the kingdom of God. Insurance forms need to be completed, notarized, and turned in by July 19.

Please be sure and mark your child's lunch with their name or bring their siblings and join us for a fun time! Lemonade and water will be provided to drink each Tuesday. If you are available to help chaperone one or more Tuesdays during musical practice, your help would be very much appreciated. Please see Candi Martin to coordinate schedules.

On Thursdays, we will meet for a free movie at Celebrity Theatres. Popcorn and drink cost $4.

Family Night after VBS is our opportunity to invite the community in to see their kids sing and talk about what we've learned during VBS. After a short program, families will be invited to play games, take advantage of our playground, and get to know each other better. Please make plans to join us!

Wednesday nights we will continue our series on learning truths from God's Word through candy. This past Wednesday, we talked about how bubble gum is great and has lots of flavor, but for a very short time. Then your're ready to toss it out and move on to something else. In the same way, when we pursue things of this world to bring us happiness; we discover those things are fun for a season and then the need becomes evident again. Only God can bring us true joy, peace, and happiness. (Jayson blew the largest bubble out of our boys and Maggie won the girls' contest.) Bring those kids to learn truth by examining candy in relation to the Bible each Wednesday evening!
