A Word of Thanks

As we welcome Bro. Jeff as our new Senior Pastor, I want to thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord and His church during our interim period. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement for your church staff. Thank you for continuing to minister to those in need. Thank you for continuing to faithfully give to the work of the Lord. Thank you for continuing to reach out in the name of Christ. God has continued to bring salvation to the lost and provide a church home for many during this time.

I so appreciate the prayerfulness and diligence of our Pastor Search Committee during this lengthy process. They have been an encouragement to the body of Christ here at Cook. I believe the unity we witnessed as we voted to call Bro. Jeff as our Senior Pastor was greatly due to the committee’s faithfulness to the task God had given them and their sensitivity to His guidance.

Finally, and most of all, I want to thank the Lord God Himself who has never abandoned His people. He truly provided all we needed during the interim. He continued to encourage and challenge us through the preaching of Bro. Wayne and Bro. Keith, as well as the other guest preachers. And why wouldn’t He, for He truly is the Great Shepherd of His sheep. I thank Him for so powerfully reminding His people of that truth these past 22 months.

Freely Given - June 2017

A Teacher Appreciation Luncheon has been scheduled on Sunday, June 11 for teachers in all ages of our program organization and their families. It will be served in the gym immediately following the morning service. Please let the office know by Wednesday, June 7 if you will be able to attend.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is just around the corner…June 26—June 30!! There is no greater opportunity we have during the year to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ than through VBS. I encourage each of you to prayerfully consider being involved in some way this year. There are opportunities not only to teach but also to prepare decorations, prepare and serve refreshments, provide childcare for workers’ children, etc. Please see Rebecca Welch and let her know of your interest.

Freely Given - May 2017

May will be a month of recognition at Cook Baptist Church. On Sunday, May 7, in the morning service, we will be recognizing our university students who are graduating, followed by a recognition of high school graduates on the following Sunday, May 14. That Sunday is also Mother’s Day, where we recognize and honor those ladies who have played that special role in our lives. Finally, on Monday, May 29, in memory of those of whose gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives in service to our country and in honor of our veterans, we will be having our annual Veteran’s Fish Fry at 11:30 am in the gymnasium.

We rightfully honor and recognize others for their accomplishments and special contributions to our lives. Proverbs 3:6 reminds us that one of the keys to receiving the ongoing guidance of the Lord is to continually acknowledge or recognize His lordship in all aspects of our lives.
“Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He shall direct your paths.”

Thank you, Lord, for your ongoing presence and guidance in our lives.

Bro. Todd
