Freely Given - June 2017

A Teacher Appreciation Luncheon has been scheduled on Sunday, June 11 for teachers in all ages of our program organization and their families. It will be served in the gym immediately following the morning service. Please let the office know by Wednesday, June 7 if you will be able to attend.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is just around the corner…June 26—June 30!! There is no greater opportunity we have during the year to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ than through VBS. I encourage each of you to prayerfully consider being involved in some way this year. There are opportunities not only to teach but also to prepare decorations, prepare and serve refreshments, provide childcare for workers’ children, etc. Please see Rebecca Welch and let her know of your interest.

Freely Given - May 2017

May will be a month of recognition at Cook Baptist Church. On Sunday, May 7, in the morning service, we will be recognizing our university students who are graduating, followed by a recognition of high school graduates on the following Sunday, May 14. That Sunday is also Mother’s Day, where we recognize and honor those ladies who have played that special role in our lives. Finally, on Monday, May 29, in memory of those of whose gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives in service to our country and in honor of our veterans, we will be having our annual Veteran’s Fish Fry at 11:30 am in the gymnasium.

We rightfully honor and recognize others for their accomplishments and special contributions to our lives. Proverbs 3:6 reminds us that one of the keys to receiving the ongoing guidance of the Lord is to continually acknowledge or recognize His lordship in all aspects of our lives.
“Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He shall direct your paths.”

Thank you, Lord, for your ongoing presence and guidance in our lives.

Bro. Todd

Freely Given - March 2017

Renovation Update

Our sanctuary renovation continues to proceed on schedule. The pews and carpet are scheduled to be installed during the middle of the month. Our tentative plans at this point are to have our first service in the sanctuary on April 2.

On Sunday evening, March 12, we are planning a special time of prayer in the sanctuary at the close of our evening service. As part of this time, materials will be available to enable us to write scriptures and prayer on the floor of the sanctuary. Carpet installation is scheduled to begin the next day. Please prayerfully consider making a donation to our sanctuary renovation fund as we unite together to see this project completed.

Pulpit Ministry

Our Pulpit Supply Committee continues to work diligently to fill the pulpit on Sundays at Cook. During the month of March, we will be blessed to hear Bro. Keith Manuel, Bro. Ron Coody, and Bro. Joe Aulds. Please continue to pray for this committee as well as our Pastor Search Committee as they faithfully complete the work God has called them to do.

Freely Given - February 2017

"For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.” Hebrews 10:36

This past month we received news from our Pastor Search Committee that the process of finding a new Senior Pastor at Cook will take longer than had been expected. And yet, the committee shared that they are not discouraged as they are continuing to see God’s hand at work through the process.

Yes, waiting on God’s timing in our pastor search process will apparently require more patience…more endurance than we originally had thought. And yet, we continue to seek the Lord and know by past experience that He is always faithful. He even tells us that endurance is necessary for us to receive what He has promised. Please continue to pray for our Pastor Search Committee and thank the Lord for them.
