Ministry Fair 2015

Every member of Cook has a place of ministry. Sunday, January 11 is the date for our annual Ministry Fair. We will gather in the gym at 6 PM for a time of worship followed by a soup and chili supper. Each ministry team at Cook will have a table set up providing information on their ministry as well as an opportunity to sign-up to be involved.

Committee Training

Our annual committee training event will be held on Sunday, January 25 at 5 PM. This event provides each committee an opportunity to review their responsibilities and make plans for the new year.

Freely Given - December 2014

During this month we are celebrating the birth of the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. The special Christmas worship services, music presentations, fellowships, family get-togethers, gift-giving, etc., hopefully remind us of the special nature of this holiday. It is a time to rejoice in grace God has given us in Jesus Christ.

One question we must ask ourselves as we sing “Joy to the world, the Lord has come!” is, “How much joy do we really exhibit in our daily life? In answering this question in my own life, I must confess that at times I let the onslaught of negative news rob me of my joy. It is only as I return my eyes to the Lord that I can rejoice.

In order for us to make disciples of Jesus as He commanded, they must see us truly rejoicing in Him. They must see that no matter how difficult things may get, Jesus is always sufficient. In this way, His glory is revealed. May our Lord Jesus continue to recapture our hearts with His glory—-a glory first revealed to as a helpless, little human baby lying in a manger.

I am so thankful for the work our Finance Committee has done on our 2015 budget. You should receive this budget in the mail soon. Please pray for our church as we seek to be faithful with the resources God has given us.

Connect Group Teacher Needs

We presently have a need for more teachers in two of our adult classes. If you have an interest in teaching, or know of someone who may be a good
candidate, please let me know.

Glorytime Choir

I am so proud of our Glorytime Choir for participating in the Senior Adult Praise Fest which we hosted last month. They did an outstanding job and
represented Cook Baptist Church well. I also want thank Shelby Barnette and her helpers for arranging such a wonderful brunch.

We know there are still others out there who need to come and join us on Wednesdays at 4 PM in the choir room. If you know of someone you
personally believe should be in our Glorytime Choir, let me know and I will give them a personal invitation.

Freely Given - August 2014

Missions Ministry

As we continue to seek God’s will regarding how we are involved in sharing the gospel around the world, one of the options being considered is for Cook Baptist Church to adopt a UUPG. UUPG is an acronym for Unengaged, Unreached People Group. According to our own International Mission Board (IMB) , “A people group is unreached when the number of Evangelical Christians is less than 2% of its population. It is further called unengaged when there is no church planting strategy consistent with Evangelical faith and practice under way.”

In adopting a UUPG, Cook Baptist Church would be making a commitment to becoming a strategy center for engaging and reaching those people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. On Sunday evening, August 24, we will have the opportunity of hearing from IMB representative Alan Duncan, who will be sharing what it takes to be engaged in this vital ministry. Please be in prayer that God would clearly guide us in how we should be involved.

Glorytime Choir

Glorytime Choir will kick-off this month. We will resume on Wednesday, August 20 at 4:00 PM. Once again, we will be meeting in the choir room. The target group for this choir is our senior saints. However, I won’t define what age range that entails. If you would love to sing in a choir but are not able be a part of our weekly Ceaseless Praise Choir during Sunday morning worship, come join us on Wednesday afternoons this fall for this special worship time.

On a related note, this fall our church will have the privilege of hosting the North Louisiana Senior Adult PraiseFest. Senior Adult choirs from all over the state will be coming together to worship the Lord. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 14. The program will begin at 10:00 AM.
